Buccaneers Injury Report: Godwin, Egbuka, Irving Miss Practice (2025)

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are facing a challenging situation as several key players are sidelined with injuries ahead of their crucial Monday night game against the Detroit Lions. The team's star receiver, Mike Evans, returned to practice on Thursday, recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in Week 3. However, the absence of several other crucial players is a cause for concern.

Among those unable to participate were receiver Emeka Egbuka (hamstring), receiver Chris Godwin (fibula), and running back Bucky Irving (foot/shoulder). Additionally, linebacker Lavonte David (knee/rib), punter Riley Dixon (personal reasons), and running back Josh Williams (concussion) were also absent from practice.

Egbuka's hamstring injury occurred during the team's victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, and his availability for future games remains uncertain. Godwin, who made a remarkable recovery from a serious ankle injury last year, returned to play in Week 4 but missed the recent game due to a different injury. Irving, who suffered an injury in Week 4, has missed the past two games.

The situation is particularly concerning for Godwin and Irving, as Hall of Fame cornerback Ronde Barber expressed his concerns on The Ronde Barber Show. He stated, 'The ones that worry you are Bucky and Godwin. I can't get a solid answer on what's wrong with either of them.'

Interestingly, neither Godwin nor Irving has been placed on the injured reserve list, which would have kept them out for at least four weeks. Despite the injury to Godwin's fibula, which affects the same leg as his previous ankle injury, it is unclear if there is a connection. The team's decision to sign Godwin to a substantial contract without specific injury protections raises questions about the potential risks involved.

The Buccaneers' strategy of offering a no-strings-attached contract to Godwin might have been influenced by the Patriots' interest in signing him to a similar deal. However, the possibility of Godwin missing another game remains, and the same goes for Irving and Egbuka. The team's success in the upcoming game could heavily depend on the availability and performance of these injured players.
